2026 Ford Maverick Trim Levels

As we noted above, there are five versions of the 2026 Ford Maverick available for drivers to consider. The XL model comes standard with a 2.5-liter hybrid engine, a 13.2-inch touchscreen, and six tie-downs in the bed. The bed is also the home of the FLEXBED system, which allows you to create customized storage with 2x4s or 4x4s.

If you opt for the XLT trim, you'll get several upgrades, including Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start, a trailer hitch receiver with a four-pin connector, and available heated front seats. This variant also comes standard with the hybrid powertrain, but like every model that does so, it can be equipped with a turbocharged (EcoBoost) 2.0-liter four-cylinder instead.

The Lobo model is a unique option. It has a seven-speed quick-shift transmission with paddle shifters, sport-tuned suspension, torque vectoring technology, and a special Lobo Mode specifically built for performance on the track. This version of the truck comes with the EcoBoost engine and cannot be configured with the hybrid setup.

The 2026 Ford Maverick Lariat comes with numerous heated elements, including the steering wheel, front seats, and sideview mirrors. The vehicle also has a standard Pro Trailer Backup Assist system and 19-inch machined wheels.

The final option is the Maverick Tremor, which also comes standard with the EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. This variant is geared for off-road performance; it has Advanced 4WD with a twin-clutch rear-drive unit, off-road-tuned suspension with specialized springs and shocks, and skid plates.

2026 Ford Maverick Engines and Performance Specs

The 2026 Ford Maverick is available with two engines. The standard setup is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain that produces 184 horsepower. The Maverick XL, XLT, and Lariat come with this engine and front-wheel drive, though all three can be equipped with all-wheel drive.

The other option is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder that boasts 250 horsepower. It's found standard on the Maverick Lobo and Maverick Tremor, both of which also come with Advanced 4WD. That said, if you opt to swap to this engine on one of the other three trims, it will come with front-wheel drive (and have AWD as an option).

No matter which of these engines you select, you'll find that the Ford Maverick reliability holds strong for all sorts of tasks and environments. With a maximum payload capacity of 1,500 pounds,1 the Maverick is great for moving day. The vehicle's compact dimensions allow for easy drives in urban environments, yet the Maverick retains the ruggedness to venture onto back trails.

2026 Ford Maverick MPG Ratings

Seeing as the Maverick is available with multiple powertrain configurations, it stands to reason that the automobile's different iterations have their own EPA-estimated fuel economy scores. The best numbers are earned by hybrid models with front-wheel drive: These trucks get an EPA-estimated 42/35/38 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).2 When the same engine is paired with all-wheel drive, you'll enjoy an EPA-estimated 40/34/37 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).2 Equip a hybrid Maverick Lariat with all-wheel drive and get an EPA-estimated 39/32/36 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).2

2026 Ford Maverick pickups with the EcoBoost engine and front-wheel drive – a configuration only available on the XL, XLT, and Lariat models – score an EPA-estimated 23/32/26 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).2 When selecting this engine and all-wheel drive, you'll have command of an EPA-estimated 22/30/25 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).2

The Lobo and Tremor variants have Advanced 4WD and their own EPA estimates. The Lobo model scores an EPA-estimated 21/30/24 MPG (City/Highway/Combined),2 while the 2026 Ford Maverick Tremor gets an EPA-estimated 21/27/23 MPG (City/Highway/Combined).2

While our new Ford inventory changes frequently due to the popularity of these vehicles, you can generally find a wide variety of these pickups for sale at our dealership.

2026 Ford Maverick Towing Capacity and Payload Ratings

The maximum Ford Maverick towing capacity is 4,000 pounds.3 To achieve this rating, you have to select an XL, XLT, or Lariat model with all-wheel drive and equip it with the 4K Tow Package. With one of these configurations, you'll be able to bring a trio of dirt bikes out for a day on the back trails, a fishing boat out to the water, or a teardrop camper along for a week in the woods.

Most versions of the 2026 Ford Maverick have a 2,000-pound towing capacity3 without the 4K Tow Package, which is still sufficient to bring along a trailer full of belongings when it's time to move into a new house or apartment. The vehicle has a maximum payload capacity of 1,500 pounds,2 allowing you to haul a huge amount of cargo in the bed and cabin.
